News Briefs: First bond project; Amtrak station; police & fire pay raises Atlanta Intown

Mayor Kasim Reed, Councilmember C.T. Martin, Public Works Commissioner Richard Mendoza, and more than one hundred community members celebrated the groundbreaking of the first Renew Atlanta Infrastructure Bond project on Wednesday. Following the groundbreaking, crews began preparation to resurface Lynhurst Drive at Cascade Road SW. “More than eight out of ten voters approved the infrastructure bond to renew Atlanta in March of this year,” Reed said. “We’re starting in Southwest Atlanta, but soon residents and visitors will see projects underway across Atlanta. We will build and repair bridges, fix roads and sidewalks, build more than 30 miles of new bicycle lanes, and synchronize traffic signals.”
